The newest Pokemon series: Sword & Shield Astral Radiance

There is already a new Pokemon series coming, in this blog we are going to talk about this new series. After the success of Brillaint stars, we hope The Pokémon Company comes up with another stunner of a set! The legendary Pokémons that are the focus of this theme are Palkia & Dialga. This immediately gives us a flashback to the Diamond & Pearle sets, where these legends were also the focus. When does this new set come out?

The Astral Radiance set will be released on May 27, 2022. That is exactly 3 months from now, so there is plenty of time to pre-order. We get plenty of boxes in so there will be something for everyone. The Japanese set will appear earlier as always.

What kind of new Pokémon cards can we expect?

There is yet another new type of cards that will be released namely: Hisuian Pokémon. As an example, let’s take the Hisuian Thyphlosion. (See image below):

Also in this set, like Brilliant stars, will be Vstars instead of VMAXEN. What strikes us is that it appears to be a female Pokémon species. Normally Typhlosion is very tough and looks badass. The Hisuian style has now made it an adorable Pokémon that you would give as a gift to your sister. Personally, it’s not my taste, but we’ll have to make do.

What kind of products come out in this set?

It is a normal set so it will consist of the following products:
– Booster boxes
– Elite trainer boxes
– Booster packs
– Sleeved booster packs
– Blisters
– Build & Battle kits
– Vstar Boxes(Premium Collection)
The booster pack arts have already been leaked, only these are the French ones, see the picture below.

Some cards from Pokemon Astral Radiance set revealed

Pokemon TPCi is as impatient as you are and has already leaked a bunch of Pokemon cards from the Astral radiance set.

It strikes us that a large part of the Japanese sets Battle Region,Time Gazer and Space Juggle will not appear in the English Pokemon cards set Astral Radiance and these are saved for the next set SWSH 11 Lost Origins (release date +/- August-September 2022). Each revelation helps us better understand which cards will be in this set. (See below for more information.)

As expected, the main set will mostly include cards from February’s Battle Region and April’s Time Gazer & Space Juggler. The set’s Trainer Gallery will draw its cards primarily from the secret rare section of December’s VMAX Climax.

Astral Radiance will contain over 180 cards, not including the secret rares.

• Battle Region, the Japanese set from February contains 67 cards and 26 secret rares
• Battle Region’s Darkrai VSTAR and Lucario VSTAR decks include 19 new cards (see previous link).
• Time Gazer and Space Juggler, the Japanese sets from April, contain 134 cards and 42 secret rares.
• A lot of secret rares from VMAX Climax, the December Japanese set, have not yet appeared. So we expect that there is a chance that some of these secret weird pokemon cards will appear Astral Radiance. Although, for the most part, they already appear in the Trainer Gallery subset.

Conclusion

We are very much looking forward to this set and will definitely build a master set. Dialga and Palkia happen to be one of our favorite legendary Pokémon that makes this set extra special. We are really looking forward to it and hope you will enjoy it as well. Until the next blog :)
