Pokemon TCG Evolutions XY #12

One of the most beautiful, fun and bold Pokemon series in recent years. It came out to celebrate Pokemon’s 20th anniversary, and it was a big deal. In fact, there was a copy set of the base series. After all, we all know the original Pokemon base series. Also called base 1, then base 2 came with a remake and then for a long time there was no change. Until the 20th anniversary of Pokemon, then came XY12 Evolutions. Also called Base 3 by many. For a long time, this set was not taken seriously and the price remained around 150 euros per booster box. But in recent weeks, the series has finally been recognized in value and the booster boxes are impossible to come by. Would you still like to get your hands on one? Then you quickly pay 400 euros over more. For a booster box with 36 pokemon booster packs in it.

Why is this series so popular?

This is due to a number of reasons:

A) The series contains certain childhood sentiment for many, now that the base and base 2 set are almost impossible to afford. Does the Evolutions series come closest to them with the many remake cards. When you start saving now you are looking for a nice set to start with. If so, Evolutions is one of the ideal choices to pick up your Pokemon collection.

B) There are no less than 5 Charizard in this series. Charizard is the most popular pokemon among collectors and has a high price tag around its neck. The holo Charizard from this set is an exact copy of the base set Charizard. So that also makes him extra special and valuable! If you are a real zardhunter, then you can’t believe your luck with the Evolutions series.

C) The set contains only 108 cards in the series and another 5 secret rares. So this comes to a total of 112 cards. This is quite limited since some series do have more than 200 tickets. This makes it extra difficult and expensive to create a master set. So those who go for Evolutions can have the master set in his/her possession pretty soon. This is also often seen as an advantage to going for a particular set.

D) It was released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokemon. This anniversary can only be celebrated once, so that also made the corresponding set for it extra special.

The above reasons are the most popular ones, there are plenty of other reasons/arguments why you should or should not choose to collect Pokemon Evolutions. We know a lot of pokemon collectors who have gone full for this set and it has worked out well considering the price increases in recent weeks.

What is the most expensive Pokemon you can get from these packs?

The holo Charizard is the most expensive and popular card of this series. Of course, you also have special pre-release cards, but you can’t get these from the packs. So that’s why we chose the holo charizard. This is a unique copy of the base zard holo. This makes it extra desirable and special, which in turn makes it expensive. So it’s the original Charizard, but the 2016 version. You can see this by looking at the bottom of the map just above the yellow bar in the middle. It says there, in fact: 2016 Evolutions. This card is very expensive in PSA 10, as there are very few of them. This is because the Evolutions packages were not printed too well and quality control was poor. As a result, the Charizard in PSA 10 is very rare. Even if you pulled it fresh out of a pokemon pack, the chances of it becoming a PSA 10 are still slim. This is because there is often whitening on the back, the card is OC (off center) or there are printlines on the holo. A great shame, but so this makes him extra special in PSA 10.
