As a Pokemon fan, I know how valuable and sought-after some cards can be, especially when they are rare. Rarity may depend on several factors. For example, there are some pokemon cards that have barely been printed, here are then only a handful of copies left in 2023. But it could also be that a card from a modern set is extremely difficult to get from a pokemon booster pack. So this also makes it very rare, but not necessarily worth extremely much compared to the older cards that are barely printed. 1) Pikachu Illustrator Card

This is probably the most valuable and rare Pokemon card out there. There are only 39 copies of this card in the world and they were only released in 1998 as part of a CoroCoro Comic contest in Japan. Today in 2023 there are not many left, in 2022 Logan Paul managed to get the only one in a PSA 10. This Pokémon card is also considered the holy grail among all Pokemon cards in existence. The price tag of this holy grail was estimated at $5 million.

2) Pokémon Topsun 1995

This is a set of 150 cards released only in Japan, known as the first set of Pokémon cards. Not many of these cards remain because they are so old. So this makes them very unique and hard to find. Many collectors have never had one of these in their collection, so this one can definitely be considered rare.

3) Trophy Pikachu Trainer No. 1 Card

This is another rare and valuable Pikachu Pokemon card. It was awarded to the winner of the Japanese Super Secret Battle contest and there are only eight copies of this card in the world. Again, this is another old ticket that only a handful of people have ever owned. This card is highly sought after among collectors but it comes with a hefty price tag.

4) Pokémon Snap Cards

These cards were only released in Japan as part of a collaboration with the popular video game “Pokémon Snap. There are only 151 copies of these cards, one for each Pokémon, and they are very hard to find. So the nice thing about these rare Pokémon cards is that they are related to one of the very first Pokemon games released. That makes it extra special and there is a hefty layer of nostalgia attached to it. But so these are also extremely rare and difficult to obtain in 2023.

5) Burning Shadows Rainbow Charizard GX

This card can only be found in the Pokemon Sun & Moon Burning Shadows series. This one is not as old as the above examples of rare pokemon cards. This is because we also want to provide an example of a rare card from a more modern set. So what makes this Pokemon card so rare? He is very difficult to get out of a pokemon booster box, pokemon elite trainer box, pokemon boxes or booster pack. This is because it is proportionally contained in 1 in 1,000 boosters. Per booster box you have 36 booster packs, just calculate how many times it occurs on average in a booster box. It is a very difficult card to pullen, we took the gamble ourselves with over 300 boosters. But alas, we did not succeed hopefully you will have better luck with it!
